Calico

(About This Starter)

  • My calico is sitting on my left arm right now
  • while I type on the computer
  • i'm typing to put some queued actions into my little queue script
  • so i can check for them
  • and then see if the cron picks them p
  • up i mean
  • i ran some queries, i'm just waiting for the 5 minute mark...
  • some "before" queries that is
  • huzzah! the log has a new row in it...
  • let's check with some "after queries!"
  • it worked! freakin' sweet
  • my calico was on my writst, but i slid it out from under her
  • she's sleeping on my left thigh now... with her face near my laptop...
  • oops now she's looking around
  • she's sweet
  • i think she likes me
  • i like her too
  • it's hard having a 3rd cat around here...
  • with the extra expense in food, and the extra poo
  • but i love her... she's sweet
  • it's almost been 5 more minutes now... took you much less time to read this than it did for me to write it, didn't it?
  • that next cron should fire off soon :-)
  • my other cat is snoring loudly
  • they're all asleep
  • when i get the queue for streams working right, i'm going to start working on another use
  • for the queue, that is... qlickthru.com summary tables...
  • i think streams should start rolling the ripples
  • now i can't see the last one...
  • maybe after 5 it should roll out the first one... so you can always see...
  • This goes pretty quick... :-)
  • I'm happy with the queue thingie...!
  • i should be pretty easy to create the "conversion" pixel
  • on qlickthru
  • very similar to the view pixel i would imagine
  • then the summary stuff, which should analyize things like duplicates, etc... and from/to domains...
  • i think the archive tables on the queue should be uh... monthly or weekly... i'm not sure...
  • doing 1 ripple makes 2 queue actions...
  • damn that thing is quick!
  • it just ran while i was typing that stuff...
  • the rows go in out of order... which is perfectly fine!
  • since the whole idea is to be asynchronis
  • I wanted to use the queue for paypal stuff too... :-) i remember now
  • oh - and remind me
  • not quite sure *how* exactly that will work..? *shrug*
  • but i was thinking for reminders...
  • they could be queued when they are run...
  • that a queue handler will send them, and re-schedule them... (if need be)
  • for the ones where people want like... hourly reminders or something...
  • how long will my session hang on...
  • i.e. if i come back to one really old - do i get a new stream or something? guess not...
  • i have to put the visitor counts into the queue for all sites... :-)
  • I guess there's nothing to process...?
  • i must have missed a few....
  • ohhhhhhhhhhh i see - at 3:30, 6 were processed...
  • that makes sense
  • i must have missed them
  • this needs javascript to be interesting
  • if i move the cats all get up and look around
  • then lick each othere
  • nother minute and the queue will go again...
  • i love it
  • i wonder if i could crank that sucker up to run every 4 minutes or every 3....
  • i don't want to piss off Michal
  • yeah - i gotta add some stuff to some stuff and things... :-)
  • i'm extremely tired now
  • i'm excited that houses near brandon are so inexpensive
  • meeko stopped licking cream
  • the calico's name - it's cream
  • OH! and comment subscriptions... i always wonder if those could be made to run off the queue... which is what the whole requirement id was for....
  • i.e. we put in the comment subscriptions with a requirement...
  • but i'm not sure how that would work... :-/
  • since who knows when i'll approve the comment...
  • which would release the subscriptions
  • this really needs some nice scriptaculous on this screen
  • and mercury really slows down around 1:30 or 2
  • at night
  • i think it's jumpin now because i'm accessing it
  • then again maybe it was my connection...
  • who knows?1
  • ?! even
  • this is a long stream
  • this is kinda what i thought people would do... it just ... type freely
  • ooo it's almost the 5... i changed the q page to show "in progress" things... - ones with a pid
  • damn - i saw it... it picks them all up
  • but it goes so fast! :-)
  • i guess that's the idea - small atomic pieces of data
  • i like this little tiny web empire i'm creating... :-P
  • "empire" ?! ha!
  • queue should definitely roll the log tables...
  • not sure if daily or weekly would be better...
  • they're not HUGE tables... not yet at lease
  • least
  • it will be fun when things pickup
  • a bit more
  • and we can play with some real numbers... ya know?
  • i really should put the last 2 little page views on streams... the "streams" w/ recent streams, and the by anon page...
  • then i could leave it for a while...
  • oh and do the javascript/scriptaculous stuff on this silly page
  • yaaaaaay!
  • how hard would it be to make 100 items waiting in the queue!?
  • i wonder!
